Do I send my current passport with the renewal application?

Once the application has been received and confirmed to be complete, a passport officer will contact you directly to advise you how to make the payment. Please ensure you provide your current contact details with the application.
What if I need to travel urgently, but already mailed in my renewal application?
Please contact the mission where you posted your application to discuss options.
Will the mission post my new passport to me?
If you wish your new passport to be mailed to you from the Embassy, please ensure you provide a pre-paid courier envelope along with the passport application, to facilitate the mailing of the new passport. Alternatively, you may arrange to pick up the passport from the Embassy directly.
Your new passport will be posted to the postal address provided on your passport renewal application form (PC7). If your circumstances have since changed, please contact the mission where you mailed your application to discuss alternative options.
What if I cannot access the online portal to complete and print my PC7 renewal application.
Contact your nearest Australian mission to request a pre-filled PC7 renewal form can be emailed to you.
Child Passport Application FAQs
Can I mail-in a first-time child passport application?
No. First time child applications must be lodged in person at your nearest mission. Applicants aged up to 15 years old who have held a previous passport are eligible to apply by mail.
Do I include the applicant’s previous passport with the application?
No need to send the physical passport
Do I need to include a copy of the applicant’s previous passport bio data page?

Who can certify both parents’ identity documents?
Parent’s identity documents can be certified by the original issuing authority, by a Notary Public or by the Australian Embassy. Note: the Australian Embassy can only certify original documents if physically presented at the Embassy, and only prior to lodgement of a passport application. A fee is applied to these Notarial services. Do Not mail the original documents to the Embassy when lodging the application.
How will I know if/when my application has been received at the Embassy?

Will the Embassy post the child’s new passport to me?

Additional FAQs
I may have lost my Australian citizenship certificate. How do I get a replacement?
All citizenship enquiries need to be made to the Department of Home Affairs. Please refer to the Department of Home Affairs website.
How do I get a replacement Australian birth certificate?
Please contact the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registry in your state or territory.
My passport visa pages are full, but it has not expired. What can I do?
You will need to apply for a replacement. To maintain the security of our passports, we do not insert additional blank pages into an existing passport. If there are more than 2 years validity remaining on your passport, you can apply for a replacement passport with the same validity as your current passport at a reduced cost.
I have recently married a foreign national. How can I obtain an Australian passport for my spouse?
We can only issue passports to Australian citizens. Marriage does not entitle your spouse to hold an Australian passport unless they also hold Australian citizenship. If you and your spouse would like to live in Australia, you should contact the Department of Home Affairs about relevant visas.
How can I replace a damaged passport?
You will probably need to apply for another passport. Book an appointment for “Lost, stolen or damaged passport" at https://ausembcam.setmore.com and bring your damaged passport along with your application for a new passport. Depending on your travel schedule and your documents of identity and citizenship, you may be able to apply for an emergency passport. Otherwise, you can apply for replacement passport. I am a dual citizen. Which passport should I use when entering and departing Australia?
Australians who are dual nationals are required to enter and depart Australia on their Australian passport. An Australian cannot be granted a visa to visit Australia using a foreign passport.
I am Australian but as I did not obtain an Australian passport before leaving Australia, I am using my Cambodian passport. Do I have to apply for an Australian passport to return to Australia?
You should apply for an Australian passport before travelling to Australia. Visas for Australia cannot be given to Australian citizens travelling on a foreign passport and airlines will deny boarding to travellers who don’t have either an Australian passport or an Australian visa.
When I apply for a new passport, what happens to the visas in my current passport? Can I still use them?
Please contact the visa office of the country that issued the visa for information about their requirements. Only the visa issuing authority or country can provide advice on the validity of the visa and the process for obtaining a new visa.
