If you apply at the AVAC, the AVAC provides you details of the application tracking service including a small fee for SMS service.
Check the current global processing times prior to lodging a visa. Processing times are impacted each month by changes in application volumes, seasonal peaks, complex cases, and incomplete applications.
We assess applications on a case-by-case basis, and actual processing times can vary due to individual circumstances. For example, visitor visa applications can take up to 4 weeks to process.
You should apply for your visa, along with the required documentation, well in advance of your travel to avoid disappointment.
We recommend that you do not finalise travel arrangements until you have a valid visa to travel to Australia. Home Affairs is not liable for any financial loss incurred by travellers whose visa application was finalised later than expected, or where an application is unsuccessful.
We will not respond to application status enquiries within global visa processing times.
Requests for urgent processing
Requests for urgent processing may be considered if there is a compelling or compassionate reason or a genuine emergency (eg a close family member has suddenly become seriously ill) on the need to travel.
Please send an email to email@example.com and provide relevant supporting documentation (ie medical certificate) and include EMERGENCY in the title.
Applicants who request consideration for urgent processing requires that all the relevant documentation has been provided and that the applicant meets the legislative requirements for the grant of a visa.
